あれ、なんか変だ。
担いでいるのは女性じゃないか。

奇妙にほほえましい一枚です。

シャガールの作品は、なんでこんなにフワフワしてるんだろうと
それがずっと腑に落ちずにいたのですが、
この作品はなんとなーく理解できるような気がします。
彼はただ、すなおだったんじゃないかなぁ。


しあわせだったら、人は空でも飛べると感じるでしょう。
うれしさのあまり、男なのに肩車の上に乗ってしまうことだってあるでしょう。
描かれた女性はこんなにどっしり安定しているのに、
赤いジャケットのシャガールはナヨナヨと曲がりくねっています。
それもシャガールの歓びのあらわれのように思えるのです。
だってほら、一番上には天使の姿。
天にものぼるような心地だったんだ。


「ワイングラスをもつ2人の肖像」に描かれているのは、
当時30歳のシャガールと愛妻ベラ。
2年前に結ばれた2人の間には愛娘が生まれており、
画家としてすでに認められていたシャガールは幸せの絶頂だったのでしょう。
